Sweatshop Labor and Your Browns
July 12, 2008TDU reports:
Check the label on your UPS uniform. Odds are it’s manufactured outside the USA. And you can bet it comes from a nonunion manufacturer.
The National Master Freight Agreement requires that all uniforms “shall be made in the United States by union vendors if possible.” DHL meets this standard. Why doesn’t the UPS contract?
Its amazing that your would complain about something so insignificant, but i bet half the things YOU own are made in china. mellow down abit.
I’m sure half the things I own are made in China, it’s called cheap labor. However, when a choice can be made to change that it should. Why should UPS get off in saving money by exploiting third world workers? So are you telling me you don’t care about the exploitation of third world workers for the benefit of first world peoples? If you can make a change you should, and if there is a provision in the contract for U.S. union made, i.e., American made (Mr. NASCAR Dad), then that helps just a little bit.

You dont get it. Today american companys have to do anything they can to cut cost to stay profitable. The cost of todays insurance( american corrupt business), Fuel prices(another american congress corrupt business), staying competitive with the teamsters looking on (another american curropt business). And the extreme high price that american companies have to charge for thier product. That would be the same reason that half( i bet more) of your household products dont belong to american companies. You cant afford to buy soley american without going bankrupt yourself. While ups has a great amout of capital, they also spend a great amount of capital in american business’s in reaserch of green transportation, tommorrows high technology, and extremly competitive wages for their employees. They shouldn’t have to sweat the small stuff. And if I remember right, the last time I went to the union hall, I saw more products bought from import countries, including tables, chairs, lol even coffee mugs. When the union stops buying those products from sweatshops overseas….then I might be more vigilant.. Bottom line is the bottom number. I think more time should be working on getting more competitive with the world.
It’s amazing
